Friday 15-January-2021

The Israeli police arrested a Palestinian boy at dawn Friday after raiding his family’s home in the town of al-Issawiya in Occupied Jerusalem.

Local sources reported that the occupation police arrested Muhammad Abu Rajab after breaking into and searching his family’s house in al-Issawiya.

Al-Issawiya has been suffering for more than a year from a campaign of collective punishment practiced by the Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) against its inhabitants.

The IOA uses all means of abuse and oppression against Palestinians including imposing taxes and issuing violations especially for anyone who moves 100 meters away from his home under the pretext of coronavirus measures.

Al-Issawiya is located on the northeastern side of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The total area for the village is 12500 dunums but its area has decreased in favor of settlements and only about 2400 dunums remains for the inhabitants according to Palestinian media reports.

The IOA prevents the townspeople from building demolishes their homes and distributes weekly demolition notices claiming construction without a permit. Furthermore the IOA refuses to issue permits for Palestinians to build residential houses.
