Turan: Normalization is rejected

Saturday 2-January-2021

Hasan Turan chairman of the Turkish parliament’s Turkey-Palestine Friendship Group and a member of the League of Parliamentarians for Jerusalem described on Friday the deal of the century as the betrayal of the century and asserted that Turkey cannot allow its implementation or acceptance.

During a symposium organized by the League under the title: “Why won’t Turkey give up Palestine” Turan explained that the efforts of some Arab countries to market the deal of the century do not give legitimacy to it.

He stressed that this deal is a plan to steal what is left of the Palestinian lands and the Turkish state as said by its president Recep Tayyip Erdogan would never accept these plans.

He said that the recent normalization agreements between Arab countries and Israel are rejected incompatible with logic insulting to those countries and encourage the Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people.

“We support the establishment of a Palestinian state at international and parliamentary forums and we will not turn our backs on the Palestinian cause” he underlined.

Turan pointed out that the Palestinian issue is a humanitarian issue before being an issue for Muslims warning of the danger of the Israeli Judaization schemes in Occupied Jerusalem.

He called on the Islamic world to unite efforts to support the Palestinian cause and the holy city adding that the international community does not implement decisions against Israel which encourages it to continue its attacks.

The deputy in the Turkish parliament added “Israel is an unjust state based on settlement and displacement of Palestinians from their land and is working to steal what remains of the land in the hands of the Palestinians”.

He reiterated Turkey’s rejection of the brutal attacks and the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip. “The United States’ unlimited support for Israel will not deter Turkey from its support for the Palestinian cause” he stressed.

Turan underlined “The Palestinian-Turkish Parliamentary Friendship Committee is one of the most important committees in the (Turkish) Parliament”.

The Parliament is studying a plan to enhance trade with Palestine and is discussing it with the Ministry of Trade he said adding that the Parliament has recommended increasing the import of Palestinian goods to Turkey.
