Haneyya: Arab normalization with Israel “political sin”

Tuesday 29-December-2020

Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has warned that the steps taken by some Arab countries in the region to normalize relations with the Israeli occupation state will sow the seeds of future conflicts and make the Arab region explode from within.

Addressing a conference broadcast by al-Jazeera satellite channel on Monday Haneyya slammed the US foreign policy pursued by the administration of Donald Trump especially with regard to the Palestinian cause.

“The US policy during the last period has rearranged the array of enemies and friends in the region according to its vision and forced some parties to deal with this vision” the Hamas political chief said.

“We do not accept any step taken by Arab countries to normalize their ties with the occupation and we ask them to backtrack on this sin” he said stressing that his Movement considers the Arab normalization of ties with Israel “a political sin” but it cannot swerve from its battle with the Israeli occupation and be in conflict with any Arab country over that.

“We do not wager on the successive US administrations but we should read things politically and realize that any change could be useful for our cause” the Hamas leader underscored.

“We have analyzed the new scene in the US administration’s policy and the occupation’s handling of the issues of annexation and normalization and we have found ourselves obligated to draw up a multifaceted plan especially with regard to the unity of the Palestinian people against various plots targeting them” Haneyya said.

“There is a challenge represented by the US administration’s attempt to fragment the region make it lose all resistance elements and build a security alliance that Israel prevails over within its military security and economic superiority” he added.

He also stressed the need to build a comprehensive national strategy to rearrange the Palestinian house and build a real national partnership through the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) away from the Oslo accords which he described as “a disaster for the Palestinian people.”
