Hundreds of extremist Jewish settlers carried out on Wednesday large-scale terrorist attacks against Palestinian citizens homes and cars in Turmus Ayya town north of Ramallah amid attempts by local residents to defend themselves and property.
Palestinian medical sources reported that one citizen suffered a fatal injury in his chest and was pronounced dead at Palestine Hospital in Ramallah adding that 12 others also suffered bullet injuries in the settler attack on the town.
The slain citizen was identified as 27-year-old Omar Qateen.
Turmus Ayya mayor Lafi Adeeb said that about 400 settlers from the illegal settlement of Shilo set fire to some 60 vehicles 30 homes and vast tracts of cultivated land and wounded local residents during a massive attack on his town.
Mayor Adeeb pointed out that settlers from this settlement had carried out arson attacks on homes and vehicles in the town during the past two days.
News reports highlighted that the settler attack on the town today resulted in the destruction of many houses cars and fields.
The assault also led to injuries among Palestinians with some suffering from smoke inhalation.
The Israeli occupation forces also allowed some armed settlers to fire live ammunition at local residents cars and houses while other settlers hurled rocks at Palestinians and their property.
Meanwhile Palestinian civil defense vehicles and ambulances were obstructed by settlers from reaching the town further exacerbating the dire situation.
Situated within the Ramallah and Bireh governorate in the occupied West Bank Turmus Ayya is a Palestinian town that has been plagued by repeated settler attacks for long years.
