Deputy head of Hamas’s political bureau Saleh al-Aruri has reiterated his Movement’s adherence to all forms of resistance against the Israeli occupation including the armed struggle which he described as a “strategic option.”
In press remarks to the Movement’s official website Aruri affirmed his Movement’s keenness on “upholding its identity and approach and embracing all those who share with it the task of resisting the occupation regardless of their intellectual or national identities.”
“Our struggle with the occupation has stemmed from its aggression against our homeland and holy sites and not because of its religious affiliation and that is why the Ummah (nation) resisted all colonial powers in Palestine throughout history such as the Crusaders Mongolians and Jews” the Hamas official said.
As for the national unity Aruri said that Hamas would not stop its efforts to end the inter-Palestinian division and build a strong national front against the Israeli occupation.
He emphasized the need to redress and correct the defect in the Palestinian leadership and representation that produced the Oslo accords and caused a deep rift in the Palestinian arena.
