Hamas announced on Sunday morning the launch of its 33rd-anniversary activities from the home of the martyr Sheikh Ahmed Yassin in the center of Gaza City.
Naseem Yassin a leader of Hamas confirmed during a press conference to announce the launch of anniversary activities that the Movement decided to cancel its 33rd main anniversary festival in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
Yassin announced that his Movement decided on the following slogan: “Palestine the Trust of the Free People” for this year’s anniversary. He confirmed that Palestine is a trust in the hands of the Arab and Islamic nation.
“Today we recall the founder martyr Sheikh Ahmed Yassin who despite his suffering presented a patriotic model in sacrifice giving and working for the unity of the ranks the Palestinian position and Jihad for Palestine” he added.
The leader stated that the establishment of Hamas constituted a milestone in the history of the Palestinian cause.
He emphasized that the challenges which the Movement had faced since its establishment until today have not deterred it from fulfilling its duty to revive the nation confront the occupation and direct all Palestinians to unity.
Yassin pointed out that the 33rd anniversary of Hamas comes in light of the great challenges the Palestinian cause is going through in addition to the coronavirus pandemic which has posed a new challenge in the Gaza Strip which has been suffering from an immoral blockade for 14 years.
He added that Hamas is still confirming that armed struggle is the only feasible means of confronting the “Zionist enemy” while negotiations normalization and security coordination are mere illusions.
Hamas’s leader called on the Palestinian people to strengthen the sense of solidarity among all its components and to launch charitable initiatives in a way that enhances the steadfastness of Palestinians in the face of all challenges and threats.
