Tuesday 1-December-2020

Dozens of Palestinian civilians suffered breathing problems on Tuesday evening after the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) fired tear gas canisters in the Asida area of Beit Ummar town north of al-Khalil in the south of the West Bank.

Muhammad Awad a media activist in the town said that the IOF stormed the Asida area and some of the soldiers climbed on top of the house of one of the citizens after detaining his family in one of the rooms according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

He added that clashes erupted between the IOF soldiers and the Palestinian youths and the IOF fired live bullets and tear gas canisters at the Palestinians and their homes. Dozens of citizens suffered breathing difficulty and they were treated in the field.

Earlier on Tuesday IOF dismantled an army camp on Al-Shuhada street which is closed to Palestinian citizens in the Old City in the center of al-Khalil.

Imad Abu Shamsiyya a human rights activist said in a press release that the occupation authorities began to dismantle the camp on Al-Shuhada street which has been closed for 23 years following the Ibrahimi Mosque massacre yesterday.

Abu Shamsiyya expressed his fear of establishing a new settlement in the area especially after several successive visits by settler leaders and members of the Israeli Knesset to the same spot.
