The Prisoners and Ex-prisoners Affairs Authority has warned on Friday of the seriousness of the health condition of three prisoners suffering from cancer.
Qadri Abu Bakr the head of the authority held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the life of the prisoners Nidal Abu Aahour Imad Abu Ramz and Omar Orabi as their health condition is exacerbated by the policy of deliberate medical negligence in Israeli prisons.
Abu Bakr said that the prisoner Abu Aahour is in a serious health condition as a result of kidney failure that has aggravated to kidney cancer as a result of medical negligence.
The suffering of prisoners in the occupation prisons increases with the onset of winter due to a lack of enough blankets and clothes which are not allowed to be brought in in addition to poor heating.
Last week it was announced that the prisoner Imad Abdel-Khaleq Abu Ramz 46 years from al-Khalil had a cancerous tumor in his testicles.
Abu Ramz who has been detained since 2004 is sentenced to 25 years in prison. He is being held in Ofer prison and suffers from severe pain as a result of the tumor. His cancer was scanned tomography about a week ago to know the extent of the disease and he was not provided with the result until now.
The number of sick prisoners in the occupation prisons is approximately 700 in need of urgent treatment including those with cancer. The latest reports indicate that the total number of Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli prisons reached 4184.
According to the occupation prisons administration’s data 2676 prisoners were sentenced to various sentences approximately one-third of the total prisoners.
Of these sentenced prisoners there are about 58 children of whom 54 are between the ages of 16-18 years and 4 others are between the ages of 14-16 years.
Medical negligence inside the occupation prisons is a systematic policy practiced on a large scale which led to the death of 67 prisoners until 2019.
The medical clinics in Israeli prisons and jails lack the minimum health services the necessary medical equipment and medicines and the specialist doctors to treat multiple disease cases. The only medicine available is “acamol” which is prescribed as a cure for every disease.
The Israeli prisons’ administrations continue to delay transferring incurable sick cases to hospitals. The worst thing is that the sick and injured prisoners are being transferred in an unsanitary closed car instead of transporting them by ambulances. Furthermore their hands and feet are often tied in addition to the brutal and cruel treatment they are subjected to during the transfer process.
