Palestinians injured as IOF quells protest march in Jordan Valley

Tuesday 24-November-2020

Dozens of Palestinian citizens on Tuesday suffered from their exposure to tear gas when the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) violently suppressed a peaceful march staged in the northern Jordan Valley in protest of settlement activities.

According to local sources the IOF prevented a crowd of Palestinian protesters from marching to Hamsa al-Fawqa hamlet where a demolition campaign took place in early November and showered them with volleys of tear gas canisters.

The IOF also fired live and rubber bullets at the protesters and physically assaulted them as they reached an area near the military checkpoint of al-Tayaseer in the northern Jordan Valley.

Consequently many protesters suffered from inhaling tear gas and five others were physically injured when gas canisters directly hit them.

Several journalists were also attacked with tear gas and prevented from covering the events.

The participants in the march came from different West Bank areas and tried to reach Hamsa al-Fawqa which was demolished three weeks ago by the Israeli army.
