Sunday 22-November-2020

With hard work and fervent activity Muhammad Abu Shaaban began working in plowing the agricultural land he had received to pull him out of the unemployment quagmire especially that Shaaban and his two brothers got tired of looking for a job opportunity.

Shaban 28 is the only breadwinner for his family his father and his elderly mother. He could not be any happier as he received the plot of land. The owner of the land donated it to Shaaban for reclamation and cultivation during the winter season to benefit from its produce and generate income.

The good land

The Charitable Youth Center took the initiative to search for deserted lands in different parts of the Gaza Strip to take cultivate and benefit from the goods of these lands in addition to create more jobs for unemployed youth.

Jihad Musabeh one of the initiators of the initiative said “The Good Land is an initiative based on reclamation of land and helping people”.

He explained that they started to look for lands suitable for agriculture in different parts of the Gaza Strip. Then they argue with the landowners to donate them for a period of time for the sake of employing youth and reclaiming these lands.

Musabeh pointed out that the initiative was very well received in Gaza Strip and within ten days of the initiative they were able to obtain 15 plots of land in various areas and of the enclave.

The process of the initiative

Shaaban said that he was promised to receive the land for four months which is the period of rain-fed agriculture during the winter season. This season does not require high costs to cultivate the land.

Musabeh pointed out that the philanthropists will provide the fertilizers seeds and other requirements for the young men who are chosen to work. The youths will exert their efforts to cultivate the lands and then benefit from the fruits and crops they produce for sale and marketing in the markets of the Gaza Strip.

The organizer of the initiative indicated that they will follow the steps of work on the ground carefully up to date to ensure the success of the initiative and to benefit from it in all regions and at all levels.

The project organizers are interested in activating the work and employment projects other than the relief projects. The Charitable Youth Center completed more than 650 operational projects for several unemployed youths in the Gaza Strip during its work period.
