Five Palestinians wounded by IOF gunfire in Kafr Qaddum

Friday 23-October-2020

Five Palestinian citizens were injured on Friday by rubber-coated metal bullets fired by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at the participants in the weekly anti-settlement march of Kafr Qaddum. This march is organized on weekly basis to call for the reopening of the village’s main street which has been closed for more than 17 years.

Local sources reported that two civilians were injured in the head and back and were taken to hospitals for treatment while the rest of the injuries were treated in the field.

Murad Shteiwi the Coordinator of the Popular Resistance in Kafr Qaddum stated that dozens of Israeli soldiers attacked the participants in the march with rubber-coated metal bullets stun grenades and teargas canisters.

He said that more than 100 Israeli soldiers stormed the town and fired at the citizens’ properties and cars and fired tear gas canisters at residential buildings.

Shteiwi explained that what happened today in the massive storming of the town is the result of months of planning to set up ambushes and arrest young men in the village but it was in vain.

The town has recently witnessed a violent escalation of the IOF night raids and ambushes in deserted houses with the aim of foiling the march. However the citizens insist on continuing the marches until achieving their goals.

For the tenth year in a row the weekly anti-settlement march is organized to demand the reopening of the Kafr Qaddum main street which has been closed due to the Israeli settlement expansion.
