Zahhar urges world states to sever diplomatic relations with Israel

Wednesday 6-December-2006

Gaza- PA foreign affairs minister Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zahhar has urged the world’s states especially the Latin American countries among other states to follow the Venezuelan step in cutting diplomatic ties with the Hebrew state over the crimes it was and still is committing against the Palestinian people.

In a message he sent to congratulate Venezuelan president Higo Chavez for winning the presidential election there for the third time Zahhar hailed Chavez for the courageous decision he had taken of severing relations with the Hebrew state few months ago over its heinous crimes in Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

“The brave Venezuelan step was the first step in this regard but shouldn’t be the only step in this direction as Israel has clearly proved its undermining of the international community’s laws and conventions as a result of the blind and open American political and military support for it” Zahhar explained.

The PA minister revealed that he will send a number of letters to his counterparts across the world to encourage them take similar steps as that of Venezuela.

In the same context Zahhar commended peoples of Spain South Africa Brazil Chile and Costa Rica for condemning the IOF troops’ massacre in Biet Hanon city that claimed 120 Palestinian lives and wounded 400 others.

Secretary of the PA council of ministers Dr. Mohammed Awad had earlier hailed Chavez’s reelection and considered it as “message” to the USA to rectify its “erred” foreign policies in the world especially towards the Palestinian issue.
