Despite lockdown Jewish settlers perform rituals in Old City

Saturday 10-October-2020

Despite the alleged Israeli lockdown on the Old City of Jerusalem dozens of Jewish settlers on Saturday swarmed al-Qattaneen market near the Aqsa Mosque and embarked on performing Talmudic rituals to mark the end of the Sukkot holiday.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs a number of settlers performed rituals in the Qattaneen market area which has been closed for days by the Israeli occupation police taking advantage of the movement ban imposed on Jerusalemite residents as an alleged measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Last week a group of settlers who live outside the holy city set up a booth made of wood and palm fronds in front of the Aqsa Mosque in the Old City of Jerusalem to celebrate the same Jewish occasion.
