RAMALLAH (PIC)– PA security elements in the West Bank on Saturday detained two Hamas leaders in Ramallah after summoning them for interrogation at the preventive security apparatus.
Hamas sources said that the apparatus arrested Faraj Abu Rummane and Hussein Abu Kuwaik noting that they had been previously detained by the same apparatuses.
The Hamas Movement affirmed that it was the target of an “elimination” campaign on the part of PA chief Mahmoud Abbas’s security apparatuses in the West Bank with the encouragement and support of the USA and Israel.
A Hamas statement on 2/1/2008 said that 1527 of its cadres supporters and sympathizers were rounded up at the hands of Abbas’s security since 14th June 2007.
It noted that 336 of them were kidnapped by the IOF troops immediately after their release from PA jails while 175 were hospitalized as a result of severe torture rounds and 183 were re-detained more than once while 170 are still held in captivity some of whom for more than four months.
