Three Palestinian detainees in PA preventive security carried to hospital

Saturday 5-January-2008

TULKARM (PIC)– Three Palestinian supporters of the Hamas Movement were carried to Tulkarm government hospital on Friday night suffering from repercussions of severe torture at the hands of PA preventive security elements in Tulkarm.

Well informed sources identified the three and said that one of them Omar Assaf 32 was arrested at dawn Friday and brutally beaten on his arrest.

Assaf was previously detained by the preventive security a few months ago and suffered from a stroke after cruel torture rounds.

The preventive security under direct command of PA chief Mahmoud Abbas had arrested four Hamas supporters on Friday morning in Faraon village Tulkarm district.

A few days earlier another four were kidnapped from Nur Shams refugee camp in the same city.

Meanwhile at an early hour on Saturday dozens of masked PA security elements launched a big campaign of arrests in northern Ramallah villages rounding up 25 Hamas supporters.

The Hebrew paper Ha’aretz on Friday said that the PA security apparatuses in the West Bank discovered a lab run by Palestinian resistance factions to manufacture explosives in Nablus city a week ago.

It added that Abbas’s security elements had launched a large-scale operation in the city over the past few weeks against “Hamas’s infrastructure” and that tens of citizens were arrested in line with this campaign.

The paper quoted Abdullah Kamil PA intelligence official in Nablus as saying that those security apparatuses had succeeded in destroying Hamas’s infrastructure in Nablus and aborted dozens of anti-occupation raids over the past few months.

IOF troops have been waging a similar campaign in Nablus for the past two days and scores of Palestinian citizens were wounded in the operations while many others were rounded up.
