West Bank elderly jailed fined after being assaulted by soldiers

Wednesday 30-September-2020

At the behest of the Israeli occupation army a military court on Wednesday sentenced a Palestinian elderly farmer to one month in jail and ordered him to pay a financial penalty.

According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society 64-year-old Khairy Hanoun was sentenced to 30 days in jails and fined 1000 shekels ($300).

Hanoun was kidnaped on September 21 from his home in Anabta town east of Tulkarem province.

In early September Hanoun was savagely attacked during a demonstration in the northern West Bank. He was protesting against the confiscation of his land.

Video footage showed Israeli soldiers shoving Hanoun to the ground before one soldier started pressing his knee on the farmer’s neck while the others pointed their weapons at those filming the assault.
