Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu has told officials to approve the construction of thousands of settler homes in the occupied West Bank.
According to the Hebrew media Netanyahu asked for the Israeli council for planning and building to convene after the end of the Jewish holidays in October to okay a plan to build 5000 housing units in different settlements in the West Bank.
The Hebrew media claimed Netanyahu made his decision in this regard after leaders of settlers in the West Bank contacted him recently and convinced him to take such step.
In recent weeks settler leaders also protested against Netanyahu’s reluctance to push the council to approve settlement projects and fulfil pledges he made to them about settlement expansion in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
