Hamas: Deal reached to end Israel’s aggression and help Gaza

Tuesday 1-September-2020

The office of Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar in Gaza has announced that an understanding has been reached to contain the escalation and end Israel’s aggression and measures against the coastal enclave.

“After a round of talks and contacts the last of which were made by Qatari representative and ambassador Mohamed al-Emadi an understanding was reached to contain the escalation and stop the Zionist aggression against our people” Sinwar’s office said in a press release on Monday.

“Within the framework of these efforts a number of projects that aim to serve our people in the Gaza Strip will be announced in order to contribute to alleviating their suffering in the midst of the coronavirus wave that has hit the Gaza Strip” the office noted.

The Hamas leadership expressed its sincere thanks and appreciation to the Qatari leadership for its support for the Palestinian people in Gaza.

For his part ambassador Emadi head of the Qatari committee for the reconstruction of Gaza stated on Monday that the efforts and contacts that he had made between the parties in Gaza and Israelis succeeded in defusing the tension and restoring the previous situation.

He declared intentions to carry out a number of projects that would serve the citizens in Gaza and ease the impacts of the blockade imposed on them for long years.

He pointed out that the new truce agreement came also following a phone call on Monday between Qatari foreign minister Sheikh Mohamed Al Thani and head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya.

“The Hamas leadership in Gaza showed a high-level sense of responsibility that enabled us to reach such agreement taking into account the difficult situation and conditions which the population lives under especially in the midst of the coronavirus spread in the Gaza Strip” the Qatari ambassador said.

Earlier a statement released by the office of Haneyya said the political chief of Hamas talked over the phone with Qatar’s foreign minister about the situation in Gaza without providing further details.
