Complete closure on West Bank amid COVID-19 surge

Friday 17-July-2020

A complete closure on the West Bank started on Thursday night as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 amid a second wave of infections.

The Palestinian Authority government announced that the closure would last until 6:00 am Sunday.

Citizens were ordered to stay at their homes and never leave unless for emergency cases.

In addition to hospitals only bakeries and pharmacies are allowed to open.

The Palestinian Authority police issued a statement urging citizens to abide by the instructions announced by the government and the Ministry of Health warning that legal procedures will be taken against those who violate the law.

Since the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis started 54 Palestinians have died of severe infections. Only one of them is from the Gaza Strip while the rest are from the West Bank.
