The Hamas Movement has expressed shock over the prison verdicts that were issued on Monday by the Jordanian State Security Court against a Palestinian prisoner in an Israeli jail and a number of his relatives who are detainees in Jordan.
In a press release on Monday Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum denounced all legal steps taken by Jordan against Palestinians for their role in resisting the occupation especially if one of them was in Israeli detention.
“Palestine is the nation’s central cause at all official and popular levels and the nation has a duty to help our Palestinian people strengthen their steadfastness support their resistance and oppose all the occupation’s projects and plots” spokesman Barhoum underlined.
“We reaffirm that our common enemy — as Jordanians Palestinians and other peoples of the region — is this colonial Israeli occupation and its projects that target the nation its capabilities its peoples and regimes” the spokesman said.
“We should confront the liquidation conspiracies and projects this enemy is trying to impose on us” he added.
He also condemned the holding of such trial with no regard for Israel’s intents to Judaize the Aqsa Mosque and carry out its annexation plans in the West Bank and the Jordan Valley.
Jordan’s State Security Court on Monday issued five-year imprisonment sentences against Palestinian prisoner Thaer al-Lawzi a detainee in Israeli jails and four of his relatives. All of them hold Jordanian citizenship.
