Israeli occupation forces accompanied by intelligence officers on Monday evening broke into the house of Sheikh Ekrima Sabri al-Aqsa Mosque’s preacher in al-Suwana neighborhood in Jerusalem and wreaked havoc on it.
The raid came after Sheikh Sabri warned that if the Israeli occupation authorities opened al-Aqsa Mosque to Jewish settlers the Islamic Awqaf would also open it to dozens of thousands of Muslim worshipers.
Earlier on Monday Sheikh Sabri said that several Israeli settler groups have called for taking advantage of the coronavirus lockdown and resuming daily break-ins into al-Aqsa Mosque.
Jerusalem’s Islamic Awqaf Council last month announced that al-Aqsa Mosque would remain closed and public worship suspended during the holy month of Ramadan as a protective measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
