The Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad has called on the Saudi authorities to order a halt to the court hearings they recently started and intend to hold for dozens of Palestinian and Jordanian detainees reconsider the measures taken against them and release all of them.
In a statement on Thursday the Popular Conference called for necessarily and swiftly closing what it called “this dark file that goes against the Arab nobility the brotherly commitment and the principled position [of Saudi Arabia].”
The Popular Conference expressed its shock and dismay at the Saudi decision to take legal action against Palestinian and Jordanian citizens because of their involvement in “honorable roles in supporting the just cause of Palestine.”
The Popular Conference underlined that the detention and prosecution of Palestinian and Jordanian citizens “contradict the role expected from Saudi Arabia towards the just cause of Palestine and its stated commitment to support the Palestinian people’s struggle until they regain their inalienable rights.”
