The Israeli district court in Occupied Jerusalem sentenced Palestinian detainee Qusai Alyan 24 to 14 and a half years in jail on Sunday.
Alyan a resident of the east Jerusalem district of Issawiya was arrested on December 19 2021 on allegations of opening fire at Israeli soldiers.
In press remarks his mother said she was shocked by such a court ruling against her son describing it as “unfair.”
According to his mother Alyan has been sick since his childhood suffering from lung problems so he has to take special medication and injections twice a month.
She expressed her concern over her son’s health condition and his exposure to medical neglect while being in jail.
She pointed out that Alyan had been arrested several times before and spent between one week and four months each time.
Several years ago Israeli police officers assaulted Alyan after forcibly removing him from his father’s car although they were told that he was sick. As a result of the assault he was rushed to hospital at the time.
