The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Monday issued tenders for the construction of 1077 housing units in the Jewish settlement of Givat Hamatos near Beit Safafa in southern Jerusalem.
According to Haaretz website this plan had been frozen for years by the Israeli government because of pressure from the former US administration of Barack Obama.
The Israeli government also flouts strong condemnation by the European Union especially by Germany and France against its settlement plans in this area of Jerusalem.
The housing units will be built within the framework of a plan to build 5200 new housing units in Occupied Jerusalem including 3000 units in Givat Hamatos and 2200 units in the Har Homa settlement.
