A Palestinian toddler was pronounced dead on Monday after he succumbed to a critical bullet injury he sustained when Israeli soldiers opened fire at him last Friday in Nabi Saleh village north of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.
According to the Palestinian health ministry and local sources three-year-old Mohamed al-Tamimi died of a bullet injury in his head and his body will be transferred from an Israeli hospital to Ramallah later on today before being buried tomorrow in the village.
The child and his father were wounded by live bullets last Friday when Israeli forces opened fire at a car they were aboard at the main entrance of Nabi Saleh. The 40-year-old father was taken to a hospital in Ramallah while his son was ferried to an Israeli hospital by a helicopter.
The shooting incident was part of an Israeli military ambush in the village of Nabi Saleh according to WAFA news agency at the time.
Since the start of 2023 the Israeli occupation forces have killed at least 158 Palestinians including 26 children according to WAFA.
The death toll also includes 36 Palestinians killed by the Israeli army during the four-day aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip from May 9 to 13.
