The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Wednesday detained a Palestinian citizen near the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil south of the West Bank.
Local sources said that the IOF stopped Mohammed Abu Turki 28 at a checkpoint near the Ibrahimi Mosque and searched him.
Abu Turki was later arrested and taken to an undeclared destination for allegedly plotting a stabbing attack.
Dozens of Palestinian youths have been arbitrarily arrested or killed over the years at IOF checkpoints installed in al-Khalil especially the Ibrahimi Mosque area over several allegations.
The IOF’s aim is to pressure the Palestinian residents of the Old City of al-Khalil to leave the area and make way for more settlement construction.
