Palestinian child in solitary confinement for 27 days

Sunday 19-January-2020

A Palestinian child has been locked up in an isolation cell in the Israeli jail of Ofek for 27 days to punish him for refusing to be incarcerated with Israeli criminal detainees.

According to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs the Israeli occupation forces kidnaped 15-year-old Musaab Abu Ghazalah from Jerusalem on December 22 2019 and transferred him later to Ofek jail which is used to imprison Israeli juveniles convicted of committing crimes.

After Israeli jailers rejected his request to transfer him to any security jail where Palestinian prisoners are held Abu Ghazalah went on hunger strike for two days.

Israeli jailers also obstructed his lawyer’s repeated attempts to visit him in Ofek jail.

Abu Ghazalah had been place under house arrest for one and a half years but soon later after he completed serving that term an Israeli court sentenced him to three months in jail.
