The Norwegian doctor and activist Mads Gilbert has said that the Gaza Strip is witnessing an &ldquounprecedented humanitarian catastrophe&rdquo as a result of the ongoing Israeli attack against the Strip.
&ldquoThe Israeli bombing of Gaza resulted in the killing of more than 1354 Palestinians including 326 children&rdquo Gilbert told Al-Jazeera TV pointing out that 60% of the victims are women and children.
Gilbert stressed the importance of creating a humanitarian corridor immediately to allow the entry of basic needs such as water food fuel and necessary medical equipment that are about to run out in the Gaza Strip.
&ldquoMore than million Palestinian children now in the Gaza Strip need urgent aid&rdquo Gilbert affirmed calling on the international community to pressure Israel to allow volunteer medical workers to enter the Strip and provide the necessary support.
Gilbert reiterated the need to provide protection for medical workers as Israel continues to target ambulances in the Gaza Strip adding that the number of injured people has reached 6000 since the beginning of the Israeli attack.
The Norwegian doctor who specializes in emergency medicine has supervised the treatment of patients in the Gaza Strip for more than 10 years. He is part of a Norwegian team in Cairo that aim to provide emergency aid to hospitals in Gaza.
