Sunday 22-October-2023

Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya received on Saturday evening a phone call from Turkish president Recep Erdogan who expressed his full solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

During the phone conversation president Erdogan talked about the Turkish efforts to ensure the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza and achieve a ceasefire in the region as soon as possible.

President Erdogan also pointed to the possibility of bringing wounded civilians to Turkiye for medical treatment.

The president affirmed that a permanent solution to the Palestinian cause cannot be achieved without the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital adding that Turkiye would continue to struggle for a lasting peace.

For his part Haneyya expressed his appreciation for Erdogan’s phone call stressing that &ldquothe root of the problem is the Israeli occupation and its presence on the Palestinian land.&rdquo

Haneyya cited Israel’s escalation of its violations at the Aqsa Mosque and in Jerusalem the ongoing blockade on Gaza and the repressive campaign against the Palestinian prisoners as the main reason for the Al-Aqsa Flood battle.

The Hamas leader stressed the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities towards the appalling Israeli crimes in Gaza and work on opening the Rafah border crossing for the entry of vital needs and humanitarian aid.

The Hamas leader also briefed Erdogan on the Israeli atrocities in Gaza and asserted that the Palestinian resistance would continue fighting until the achievement of the Palestinian people’s aspirations and inalienable rights.
