Saturday 14-October-2023

Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya sent on Friday an urgent letter to UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres asking him to pressure for an end to Israel’s brutal aggression against the Gaza Strip and its population.

In his letter Haneyya briefed the UN secretary-general on the horrific Israeli crimes and violations which the Palestinian citizens in Gaza are exposed to describing them as &ldquowar crimes in accordance with the Fourth Geneva Convention.&rdquo

Haneyya also pointed to the recent decision that was taken by the Israeli war minister about imposing a tight siege on Gaza and preventing the entry of any type of supplies and goods including fuel food and medical needs.

The Hamas leader urged Guterres to intervene to have Israel as an occupying power to immediately stop its deadly and devastating attacks on Gaza and to abide by its obligations under the international humanitarian law.

He highlighted the Palestinian people’s right to continue their struggle for liberation independence and the establishment of the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the relevant international resolutions.
