Member of Hamas’s political bureau Mousa Abu Marzouq on Thursday called for an immediate ceasefire in Ein al-Hilweh refugee camp in southern Lebanon.
Abu Marzouk was speaking to the press after meeting Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri in the Ain El Tineh neighborhood to discuss the latest developments of Ein al-Hilweh camp.
Abu Marzouq reiterated his Movement’s rejection of the ongoing armed clashes in Ein al-Hilweh adding that such clashes only serve the Israeli interests.
The Hamas leader affirmed his Movement’s rejection of any inter-Palestinian fighting adding that any differences should be solved through dialogue.
Abu Marzouk also visited the Director of the Lebanese Army Intelligence Brigadier General Tony Kahwaji extending thanks to the Lebanese army and intelligence for their efforts to maintain security in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.
The refugee camp has witnessed a state of cautious calm since Thursday morning following overnight clashes.
According to Palestinian media sources seven Palestinian refugees were killed while 37 others were injured during the clashes that erupted in the camp last night.
