Settlers seize Palestinian house in J’lem under police guard

Tuesday 12-September-2023

A horde of extremist Jewish settlers escorted by police officers took over a house belonging to the family of Idris in al-Qirami neighborhood in the Old City of Occupied Jerusalem on Tuesday morning.

Neighbors said they were alerted by the sounds of settlers breaking into the Idris family’s house and then embarking on changing its doors and installing grilles on its windows and roof.

Soon later after they were informed by their neighbors about what happened the homeowners showed up and got into an altercation with the settlers and policemen.

In press remarks Mohamed Idris affirmed that the house had belonged to his family since 1979 and that he has documents proving their ownership of the place where his mother and sister live.

He said that the settlers took advantage of his mother’s presence in hospital for medical treatment where she has been for about 10 days in order to seize the house adding that the police asked him to file a legal complaint to prove that the house belongs to his family and forced the settlers to leave the house.
