Dozens of Palestinian refugees on Monday morning rallied before the headquarters of the Netherlands embassy in Beirut to demand the release of activist Amin Abu Rashed.
Protesters carried Abu Rashed’s pictures affirming that his efforts helped Palestinian refugees overcome the harsh financial circumstances over the past years.
They submitted a memorandum to the Dutch ambassador in Lebanon on behalf of beneficiary families stressing that Abu Rashed’s contributions only included supporting orphans the poor the elderly the disabled students patients and widows.
Last June the Dutch authorities detained activist Abu Rashed on false Israeli claims that he sent 5.5 Million Euros to Hamas.
The Dutch authorities continue to detain Abu Rashed for more than three months without trial despite his deteriorating health condition in violation of all the international laws and conventions.
Abu Rashed is a Palestinian-Dutch citizen who supports the Palestinian people inside Palestine and in the diaspora. He is the head of the European Campaign to Lift the Siege on Gaza.
