The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) shot dead a Palestinian young man at a checkpoint on a road near Bethlehem in the West Bank on Wednesday afternoon.
Local sources said that Israeli soldiers opened fire at a car when it arrived at the checkpoint on the Tunnels Road west of Beit Jala in the Bethlehem province killing one Palestinian passenger.
The Israeli army claimed that the young man was intending to carry out a car-ramming attack.
The identity of the young man and the circumstances of the incident are still unknown.
