An Israeli court sentenced on Sunday a Palestinian girl child from Occupied Jerusalem to several years in jail.
According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) 16-year-old Nufoud Hammad was sentenced to 12 years in prison and ordered to pay 50000 shekels in compensation.
PPS pointed out that Hammad from the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah is the youngest female prisoner in Israeli jails.
The teenage girl who is currently in Damon jail has been in detention since December 8 2021.
PPS said that the girl had been exposed to harsh and lengthy interrogation at the hands of Israeli officers during the past years of her detention.
The girl has been accused of slightly wounding a female settler when she attempted to stab her with a knife in the holy city. This settler lives in a Palestinian house that was seized from its Jerusalemite owners in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.
