AI collects million signatures to demand an end to aggression on Gaza

Sunday 12-November-2023

More than a million people around the world have signed a petition by Amnesty International demanding an immediate cessation of fire in Gaza where the Israeli war machine has claimed over 11100 Palestinian lives.

The organization urged activists to continue signing the petition “to call on all parties to the conflict to immediately cease fire” and urged all countries to “act now” to contribute to stopping the aggression.

The number of martyrs who have fallen in the Strip due to Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling has reached more than 11100 people including over 8000 children and women and the number of wounded exceeds 28000.

The Israeli occupation army also completely destroyed 41000 housing units and partially destroyed 222000 others.

The organization accused the international community of hesitating for more than a month to act against “the horrific levels of civilian bloodshed destruction and unimaginable human suffering in Gaza” stating that this hesitation is a “stain on the face of humanity.” Moreover some countries continue to supply parties to the conflict with weapons used in blatant human rights violations.

In response to the signature campaign the Campaigns Director at Amnesty International Erika Guevara-Rosas said the world is “watching in horror as more and more civilian lives are lost every day (in Gaza Strip) amid relentless airstrikes and ongoing ground operations by Israel that led to unprecedented humanitarian disaster.”

According to the organization Israel’s tightening of its illegal siege on Gaza has deprived two million people of access to drinking water food medical supplies and fuel and has led to the collapse of the healthcare system which is unable to deal with the growing of number wounded persons that exceeded 28000 as reported by Al Jazeera Net.

At least 1.5 million people in Gaza have been forcibly displaced from their homes due to the attacks and orders issued by the Israeli army for them to move to the southern part of the Strip.
