The Ministry of Education said that more than 5000 children including over 3000 students have been martyred since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on the 7th of last October.
In a press statement on Monday the Ministry of Education stated that the scenes of killing children and students in the Gaza Strip have exceeded all norms and conventions.
These horrific scenes which are witnessed on television screens and circulated by media outlets reveal the mentality of Israel and its continuous targeting of education in all provinces of the country.
The statement also mentioned that there are other scenes witnessed in the West Bank and Jerusalem including killings incursions into schools and hindering the access of students and educational staff.
The Ministry of Education called on the countries of the world and their institutions to protect the rights of Palestinian children and students in life and in education and to stand against the Israeli occupation and its settlers’ continuous targeting of children. The Ministry affirmed the natural right of Palestinian children to a dignified life in addition to safe and stable education.
The Ministry also urged all organizations and institutions defending childhood and the right to education to fulfill their responsibilities within their respective areas of expertise to curb escalating violations and to stop the crimes committed by Israel against children students and educational staff in all areas. It called for urgent and immediate intervention to stop this aggression.
The government media office announced an increase in the number of martyrs as a result of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip to more than 13000 martyrs including more than 5500 children and 3500 women.
The Director-General of the office said in a press conference on Sunday evening: “For the forty-fourth day the Nazi-Israeli criminal war continues on the Gaza Strip targeting hospitals and safe homes and the genocidal war against thousands of our steadfast and patient Palestinian people.”
