Khatib appeals to Arabs and Muslims to urgently save Aqsa Mosque

Sunday 27-September-2009

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– Sheikh Kamal Al-Khatib the deputy head of the Islamic Movement in the 1948 occupied lands appealed on Sunday to the Arab and Muslim nations to urgently move to stop the Zionist attacks on the Aqsa Mosque and to assume their responsibilities in defense of the Mosque.

“We are tired of making appeals … We do not know if we call upon the dead but we certainly know that there are living peoples and we call on them to move because the Aqsa Mosque is the counterpart of the two holy Mosques [in Makkah and Medina]” Sheikh Khatib highlighted in a press statement to the Palestinian information center (PIC).

“I am surprised to see a nation enjoying its life while the Aqsa Mosque is being attacked and besieged” he added.

The Islamic Movement activist noted that these Israeli escalations against the Aqsa Mosque are taking place on the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur adding that tomorrow is also marking the day when former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon desecrated the holy Mosque.

The activist affirmed that the stationing of Palestinian worshippers inside the Mosque would continue to repel the repeated attacks and break-ins.

For his part spokesman for the Islamic Movement Zahi Nujidat said that the worshippers encircled by Israeli policemen and troops are ready to sacrifice their lives to protect the Aqsa Mosque against the attacks of Israeli settlers and would never leave the Mosque unless they are dead bodies.

In a related context the Hebrew radio reported Sunday that the IOF troops imposed an inclusive security cordon on the West Bank adding this security measure would continue for two days until the end of the Jewish holiday.

The Hebrew radio added that Israeli border guards kidnapped 203 Palestinian workmen at the end of last week in the 1948 occupied lands at the pretext of not having the necessary permits.

It was also reported that IOF troops kidnapped two Palestinian young men in Nablus at dawn Sunday and physically assaulted another at a checkpoint near the occupied city of Jerusalem.

Other two young men were reportedly kidnapped on Saturday evening at a military checkpoint near Ariel settlement south of Nablus.
