Israeli settler succumbs to wounds sustained in Qassam attack on Sderot

Wednesday 22-November-2006

Nazareth – An Israeli settler in Sderot settlement last night died of wounds he sustained in a retaliatory missile attack by the armed wing of Hamas the Qassam Brigades on the settlement Tuesday the Hebrew radio reported on Wednesday.

On Tuesday the Hamas’ armed wing claimed responsibility for shelling the settlement with one Qassam missiles that wounded five Israeli settlers before one of them died of his wounds later on. The missile explosion ignited big fire in an Israeli factory in the same colony before firefighters put it off.

The armed wing announced that it was steadily upgrading its military and missile capabilities in a bid to thwart any attempt by the IOF troops to invade the densely populated Gaza Strip.

IOF top military brass acknowledged that the Qassam missiles became more accurate and more effective in hitting targets in the “Israeli depth”.

Following that incident the armed wing urged Israeli settlers in the colony to immediately leave it and search for safer places “if they want to remain alive”.

Palestinian resistance factions have repeatedly affirmed that their missile attacks on Israeli settlements were retaliatory acts in revenge to the non-stop IOF brutality against the unarmed Palestinian civilians.

The IOF troops killed and wounded thousands of Palestinian citizens including complete families in less than six months since June this year.

In a related matter the Hamas armed wing announced in a military communiqué it issued in this regard and a copy of which was faxed to the PIC that it unleashed three more rockets at Sderot Wednesday morning in reprisal to the IOF troops’ incursion into the Zaitun suburb southeast of Gaza city that left three Palestinian martyrs and wounded five others.

In Jabalia town north of Gaza city the Qassam Brigades claimed responsibility for shooting an Israeli soldier who was hiding in one of the Palestinian homes in the town after occupying it.

More home-made Qassam projectiles including Al-Yassin and mortar projectiles were fired at IOF units hiding in a number of Palestinian homes in the town.

The Nasser Salahuddin Brigades armed wing of the PRC for its part unleashed an anti-tank RPG projectile at an Israeli tank directly hit it according to a military communiqué issued by the group and a copy of which was obtained by the PIC.

It also claimed responsibility for hitting an Israeli soldier in his shoulder while atop his tank in the town. IOF troops’ positions in eastern Gaza Strip particularly at the Juhr Al-Deik area were also attacked by the Palestinian resistance.

At dawn Tuesday tens of IOF tanks stormed the Zaitun suburb in Gaza city killing two Palestinian citizens including a Qassam fighter and a 70-year-old woman and wounding five others.

Stiff Palestinian resistance met the Israeli incursion into the suburb and forced the invaders out of it according to Palestinian and Hebrew sources.

The IOF acknowledged that two of their servicemen were wounded in the assault; but Palestinians stressed that the IOF troops have pulled out due to fierce resistance they encountered that inflicted a number of casualties in the IOF troops’ lines.
