A delegation from the Hamas Movement headed by its chairman Ismail Haneyya received on Thursday United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland and a number of his assistants.
The two sides discussed the recent developments in Palestine in light of the formation of the Israeli extreme right-wing government and its cabinet’s policies and aggressive plans that target occupied Jerusalem the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinian people.
They also examined ways to achieve Palestinian national unity and end division in order to strengthen the internal Palestinian front against the challenges facing the Palestinian people and their just cause.
During the meeting the Hamas chairman highlighted the serious challenges posed by the new extremist Israeli government with regard to occupied Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque after extremist Ben-Gvir’s storming of the holy Mosque.
He also highlighted the Israeli occupation’s colonial settlement expansion and annexation schemes in the occupied West Bank the illegal siege imposed on Gaza and the escalating attacks against Palestinian detainees.
Both sides had an in-depth discussion about the ongoing developments in the regional and international scene and the repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on the Palestinian issue.
