IOA razes 15 commercial facilities in Hizma town

Monday 16-January-2023

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) demolished at dawn Monday several commercial facilities near the entrance of Hizma town northeast of Jerusalem at the pretext of unlicensed construction.

According to local sources Israeli police forces blocked the entrance of Hizma town and set up a checkpoint at the Martyr Ariba junction before bulldozers embarked on knocking down 15 nearby commercial structures and car repair shops.

The demolished facilities belonged to three local residents from the family of al-Khatib.

Less than a year ago the Israeli municipality had demolished 10 structures used as car repair shops in the same area.

In a separate incident the Israeli occupation army announced on Sunday evening its intent to demolish a house belonging to the family of martyr Mohamed Souf who carried out a stabbing and car-ramming operation last November in Salfit.

Three settlers were killed and four others were injured on November 15 2022 in the operation that happened on a road near the illegal settlement of Ariel in northern Salfit.
