At least seven Palestinian citizens suffered bullet injuries two seriously during violent clashes on Saturday morning with the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in Aqabat Jaber refugee camp in Jericho.

According to Palestinian medical sources two citizens suffered critical bullet injuries and were rushed to Palestine Hospital in Ramallah.

The Red Crescent for its part said that its ambulance crews failed to know the exact number of the wounded citizens in the camp because the IOF did not allow them in.

The IOF reportedly encircled homes during its raid in the camp and attacked one of them with projectiles amid intensive gunfire claiming that there were wanted resistance fighters inside it.

According to al-Jazeera satellite channel the IOF started to demolish parts of a house after wanted citizens inside it refused to surrender and exchanged fire with soldiers.

During the events Israeli forces kidnaped four citizens from the family of Lafi and used live ammunition during clashes with angry local youths who responded by throwing Molotov cocktails and rocks at its vehicles.

The IOF also forced some families with children to leave their homes during its attack on the camp.

The Israeli army claimed its raid in the camp was aimed at arresting gunmen suspected of opening fire last Saturday at an Israeli restaurant in the south of Jericho city.

For about seven days the Israeli army has been imposing a tight siege on Jericho city and its outskirts.
