The Israeli occupation government decided on Sunday to establish a new Jewish settlement near the northern border of the Gaza Strip.
In press remarks Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu said that his government decided to prepare a construction plan for a new settlement near Gaza soon describing the decision to build this settlement as an appropriate response to what he labeled as “terrorism”.
For its part the Hamas Movement has denounced the Israeli government’s intent to build this settlement describing the step as a “dangerous escalation that will not bring security or stability to Jewish settlers or confer legitimacy upon the Israeli occupation.”
In a statement Hamas said that the Israeli government would be fully responsible for any consequences resulting from the presence of settlers near Gaza.
The Movement called on the international community to shoulder its responsibility in this regard and curb Israel’s escalation of its settlement activity in the occupied Palestinian territories.
