Sheikh Bakirat labels extending his deportation as oppressive

Wednesday 8-February-2023

The Deputy Director of the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf Council Sheikh Najeh Bakirat has labeled the Israeli decision of extending his deportation order from the Al-Aqsa Mosque as “oppressive.”

In a press statement on Wednesday Sheikh Bakirat stressed that extending his deportation order constitutes an attempt to curb the influence of Jerusalemite leaders.

“Israel repeatedly issues deportation orders against Jerusalemite leaders while it allows Jewish settlers to desecrate the Al-Aqsa Mosque” Sheikh Bakirat underlined affirming that such a practice reflects the Israeli policy of double standards.

Sheikh Bakirat pointed out that he has been prevented from reaching his office which is 100 meters away from the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Since 2003 he had been deported from the holy site thirty times.

He reiterated his rejection of all the Israeli oppressive policies that impose restrictions on Jerusalemites adding that the Israeli decisions will not deter him from defending the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Earlier today the Israeli authorities decided to extend the deportation order against Sheikh Bakirat from the Al-Aqsa Mosque for six months.
