Israeli authorities plan to demolish Palestinian village in Negev

Wednesday 8-February-2023

Israeli authorities on Wednesday proceeded to demolish Palestinian houses in the Negev south of 1948 Occupied Palestine (Israel).

Palestinian activist Hussein Al-Refaeyya said in a press statement that the authorities forced Palestinian families whose members are mostly women and children to leave their houses in Bir Hadajas village as a prelude to demolishing them leaving them without any shelter amid the severe cold.

For his part the head of the local committee of the village Salim Al-Dinfari said that the Israeli authorities plan to displace all Palestinians living in the village in favor of Jewish-only settlement buildings.

An Israeli court had delivered a notice ordering the eviction of 40 houses out of 70 houses in the village.

Earlier on Tuesday the Israeli bulldozers razed cultivated lands in the village belonging to the Al-Hazil and Abu Lutayyif families after they had been planted with wheat.

In a related development the Israeli municipality of Jerusalem renewed calls for demolishing a mosque in the village of Beit Safafa in Occupied Jerusalem.

Walla Hebrew news website claimed that Palestinians have established another story in the Abdulrahman mosque without a construction permit adding that the Israeli municipality had renewed threats for the demolition of the mosque.

The mosque is built over an area of 700 square meters and is called by the Hebrew media “The new Al-Aqsa Mosque” after a golden dome was added to its structure.
