Palestinian prisoner Ahmed Badr Abu Ali 48 from Yatta in al-Khalil was pronounced dead in Israel’s Soroka hospital on Friday morning.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) affirmed that Abu Ali suffered from a serious health deterioration late yesterday in Naqab desert prison and was later transferred to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Abu Ali a father of nine children was detained in 2012 and sentenced to 12 years in prison.
In detention he suffered from many health problems including chronic heart disease diabetes and obesity.
He was subjected to deliberate medical negligence as the Israeli prison authority refused to provide him with adequate medical treatment deepening his difficult health condition.
The PPS held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for Abu Ali’s death considering it a new crime against Palestinian prisoners.
Since 1967 235 Palestinian prisoners died in Israeli jails including 75 who died from medical negligence
600 sick prisoners are currently held in Israeli jails including 24 cancer patients.
