Bakirat: IOA seeks to dry up the Palestinian presence in J’lem

Monday 20-February-2023

Sheikh Najeh Bakirat deputy head of the Islamic Awqaf Administration in Occupied Jerusalem has said that the current policy pursued by the Israeli government led by Benjamin Netanyahu and Itamar Ben Gvir aims to dry up the Jerusalemite presence in the entire holy city.

In press remarks on Monday Sheikh Bakirat warned that the Israeli government seeks to change the demographic reality in Jerusalem and at the Aqsa Mosque describing such a plan as “extremely dangerous”.

The Jerusalemite official affirmed that the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) works on making the Jerusalemites’ lives unbearable and making the percentage of their presence in their holy city not exceeding 20 percent.

He pointed out that the Israeli government banned the Jerusalemites from organizing scout activities in the streets of the holy city and launched a war on the Palestinian flag and culture.

“We are facing something like a militia and the occupation seeks to achieve what it has not been able to do in a half a century” he added.

He expressed his belief that the situation in the holy city would explode if the IOA persisted in demolishing Jerusalemite homes and allowing Jewish settlers to desecrate the Aqsa Mosque.
