A state of high tension has prevailed in Ramon jail since the morning hours of Tuesday when Israeli special forces raided cells brutalized Palestinian prisoners and transferred dozens of them to an unknown place.
Palestinian media outlets reported that the tension was running high in the prison’s sections and that all the jailers were put on high alert.
According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) soldiers from special prison units transferred about 80 prisoners from Ramon jail to another unknown place after raiding their cells in section 3 and attacking them with pepper spray.
PPS also said that the Ramon jailers closed all the sections of the prison during the transfer of those prisoners.
For its part Asra Media office said that Israeli forces attacked the prisoners in section 3 of Ramon jail with tear gas canisters and stun grenades and fired rubber bullets at some of them before transferring them to another jail.
There was no immediate information about injuries among the detainees.
Recently the Israeli prison service started at the behest of far-right security minister Itamar Ben Gvir to take repressive measures against all the Palestinian prisoners and to deprive them gradually of their rights prompting the detainees to launch a number of initial protest steps.
