Member of Hamas’s political bureau and head of its international relations office Mousa Abu Marzouq has said that the Hamas Movement’s strategy is based on resistance of the Israeli occupation and not on peace with Israel.
“The Palestinian people are headed towards comprehensive resistance which would lead to the outbreak of a new Intifada” Abu Marzouq said in a press conference organized by the official Hamas website on Sunday evening adding that the Movement confronts the Israeli crimes and defends the Palestinian lands and holy sites by armed resistance.
Abu Marzouq condemned the Palestinian Authority’s participation in the security meeting in the Jordanian city of Aqaba in the presence of representatives for Israel calling on the PA to end security coordination with the Israeli occupation and coordinate with Palestinian resistance factions instead.
“Calm in the West Bank and Gaza Strip could be achieved after the complete Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Palestinian territories” Abu Marzouq stressed calling on the international community to “work to end the occupation in order to restore calm.”
Abu Marzouq said that head of the Movement’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya’s last meeting with Egyptian officials followed the recent Israeli escalation in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem and the talks focused on maintaining cooperation and strong bilateral relations.
He concluded by saying that the resistance activities in the West Bank constitute a natural response to the escalating Israeli crimes warning the Israeli occupation that further violations will be met with more resistance.
