The state of Qatar has labeled the Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotric’s call for the Palestinian town of Huwara to be “erased” as an “incitement to a war crime.”
In a press statement on Saturday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar stressed that such a call constitutes part of the Israeli government’s racist policies holding Israel responsible for the repercussions of its repeated crimes against the Palestinian people lands and sanctities.
The ministry called on the international community to act urgently to protect Palestinian citizens against repeated Israeli violations reiterating its firm position in supporting the Palestinian people until they retake all their legitimate rights and establish their independent and fully sovereign state based on the 1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Smotrich commented at a conference on Wednesday that “Huwara should be wiped out by Israel” adding that “private citizens (settlers) shouldn’t take it upon themselves to do it.”
Earlier on Monday extremist Jewish settlers launched unprecedented attacks against Huwara and other towns in the vicinity of Nablus.
